For Krystle and Joseph Puthumana, love began in a distinctly modern way, with a match on Hinge. What started as a casual connection slowly evolved into something far more meaningful. As the two spent more time together, their relationship grew organically, built on ease, familiarity, and a quiet certainty that they had found the right partner in each other.

When it came time to celebrate their union, the couple envisioned a wedding that felt intimate and deeply personal rather than extravagant. Set on the serene Greek island of Syros, their celebration unfolded across sunlit landscapes, historic architecture, and sweeping Aegean views, creating the perfect setting for a wedding that balanced modern romance with timeless elegance.

The festivities were thoughtfully planned over three days, allowing close friends and family to be a intimately involved in the experience. The celebrations began with a joyful evening that doubled as Joseph’s birthday party, setting a relaxed and celebratory tone for the days ahead. The following night brought a lively cocktail gathering paired with a sangeet-style evening, where family members delighted guests with dance performances. Rather than traditional wedding venues, the couple chose unique locations across the island, transforming each space to reflect the atmosphere they envisioned.

The highlight of the celebrations was the church ceremony, a moment that held deep emotional significance for the couple. Their priest travelled from New York to officiate the wedding, the very same priest from the Manhattan church Krystle and Joseph attend together every Sunday. That familiar presence added an especially meaningful layer to the ceremony, making the moment feel intimate and profoundly personal.

Syros itself played a central role in shaping the wedding’s aesthetic. Known for its classic Cycladic layout infused with medieval influences, the island features striking Venetian buildings, marble squares, and elegant neoclassical architecture. Rather than competing with its beauty, the couple chose to let the natural surroundings take centre stage. Their design approach embraced simplicity, allowing the island’s sweeping coastal views and charming cobblestone streets to define the atmosphere.

The result was a wedding that felt effortlessly refined. Clean silhouettes, soft neutral tones, and classic styling created a visual language that complemented the island’s serene palette of whites and blues. Every element, from the settings to the styling, was thoughtfully considered without feeling excessive, striking a delicate balance between sophistication and ease.

Capturing the celebration was The Movie’ng Moments, whose cinematic approach brought the couple’s story to life on film. Rather than focusing solely on grand highlights, the team documented the quieter emotions that defined the celebration, shared glances, gentle laughter, and the fleeting pauses between moments. Reflecting on the experience, co-founder Vaibhav Singvi explained that the goal was to capture authenticity: allowing the natural stillness of Greece to shape a visual narrative that felt unposed, intimate, and deeply emotional.

Krystle and Joseph’s wedding was a celebration rooted in intention, one that favoured meaning over spectacle and connection over grandeur. Against the tranquil backdrop of Syros, their intimate gathering brought together family, culture, and love in its most authentic form. The result was a timeless destination wedding that proves elegance doesn’t need extravagance; sometimes, the most unforgettable celebrations are simply those that feel honest, personal, and beautifully present.
