Actor Prajakta Koli tied the knot with longtime partner Vrishank Khanal in a heartfelt ceremony that felt like a rom-com come to life
In the quiet charm of Karjat, Prajakta Koli's wedding unfolded like a scene from a rom-com.
On the fringes of Mumbai, against a backdrop of blush florals and soft February sunlight, Prajakta Koli—better known to millions as Mostly Sane—married her college sweetheart, Vrishank Khanal, in a celebration that was equal parts heartfelt and hilarious. From an 18-year-old’s shy confession to a dreamy wedding at Oleander Farms in Karjat, their story is one of love, laughter, and leaning into the perfectly imperfect. Brides Today takes you through the moments that made their big day unforgettable.
How they met
Prajakta Koli met her partner, legal professional Vrishank Khanal, at the tender age of 18. The two are believed to have met through a mutual friend at a Ganpati Puja, where he caught her attention through light-hearted jokes. They exchanged numbers, stayed in touch, and eventually, a shy “Will you be my girlfriend?” from Vishrank brought them to where they are today.
Prajakta is known for her vivacious personality and quirky sense of humour, and Vrishank is comparatively calmer, with a grounded demeanour. To a bystander, their worlds may be poles apart, but in reality, it’s what makes them click. Like the actor-YouTuber said in an interview, they fit together quite like a jigsaw puzzle. “I thought l’d end up with someone with similar interests, until I met Vrishank,” Prajakta had said. “There are times when I wonder how l even met this guy from Nepal. From our cultures and upbringing to our taste in music and movies, we have nothing in common! It’s actually perfect because we’re like a jigsaw puzzle. It took us a while to realise this and get past conflict. We’ve made peace with being imperfectly perfect.”
The next step
Their story evolved over weekend dates, long phone calls and texts. But as with most couples, the obligations of life tried to play an obstacle. Their careers began to take the front seat and their schedules got busier, which meant
fewer chances to meet and keep the chemistry alive. For Prajakta and Vishrank, however, love persisted and they waded through conflict-ridden times by focusing on trying to spend quality time together. Over the years, we’ve seen them both sharing glimpses of their lives as partners on social media, including the many vacations they plan to get away from the world.
After 11 years as a couple, Vrishank proposed to Prajakta in September 2023 on a camping trip in West Virginia, USA. However, his proposal didn’t exactly go as planned. He had thought of popping the question on a scenic waterfall trail with family around, but he ended up asking her for her hand in their cosy cabin instead, finding the impromptu moment perfect. Prajakta later revealed that she had an inkling this was coming and had even got her nails done!
The big day
The celebration of love, laughter and togetherness began at the end of February at Oleander Farms in Karjat, with a number of pre-wedding ceremonies like their haldi, mehndi and sangeet. Every detail from their nuptials appeared to be a reflection of their personalities. The décor was pastel and tasteful, near-overwhelming perfect with all the floral elements. The couple mostly wore Anita Dongre across their events—Prajakta was always certain she’d be an Anita Dongre bride but wore her mother’s red Banarasi sari for their sangeet—and complemented each other sartorially. Surrounded by close family and friends, Prajakta and Vishrank were aglow with joy as their special days unfolded, thrilling their fans days later with intimate photographs, each of which are worthy of being framed.
Memories that will last a lifetime
The couple is bound to have dozens of special moments that they’ll forever remember from their wedding festivities. But there’s one moment that stands out to the world—Prajakta’s epic bridal performance at their
sangeet. Dancing to a popular parody-like song, ‘Mere Husband Mujhko Piyar Nahin Karte,’ she stole the show with her expressions and enactment of the lyrics, with many proclaiming that only she could have pulled this off at a sangeet!
