A Bumble match in Singapore, a Mykonos proposal, and a dreamy wedding in Vietnam

Disha Mohinani and Partheban Pandiyan’s love story began with a swipe. In June 2021, Partheban was the very first person Disha ever messaged on Bumble. Both were living in Singapore, and after their first date, there was an instant connection. What started as a dating app match soon became a relationship, a shared life, a dreamy proposal in Mykonos, and eventually a wedding that brought together the places that had shaped their story.

Singapore naturally came first. It was where they met, fell in love, and built their life together, so they chose Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa for their intimate civil wedding and reception. For Mohinani, Singapore was the city that had “raised us into functioning adults”, making it an especially fitting place to officially become husband and wife. The celebrations then moved to Vietnam, a country they had loved long before it became their wedding destination.

The choice of Phu Quoc was almost as unexpected as their first meeting. With no fixed destination in mind, the couple approached wedding planning with what Mohinani describes as an “empty glass”. They literally spun a globe and landed on Phu Quoc. What they discovered there changed everything. The island’s forests, quiet roads, and calm atmosphere, combined with its infrastructure and luxury, immediately appealed to them. 

Their destination wedding brought together around 200 guests from more than 20 countries. The celebrations included mehendi, sangeet, the Indian wedding, and an afterparty, with each event taking on its own mood and style. Their wedding team was just as international, with vendors travelling from the UK, Dubai, Indonesia, Singapore, India, and Thailand to create the celebrations.

Mohinani's wedding wardrobe moved through several designers across the festivities. She wore Tarun Tahiliani for the Singapore reception, Torani for the mehendi, Abhinav Mishra for the sangeet, Sulakshana Monga for the wedding, and Missoni for the afterparty. Pandiyan wore Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, Torani, Qbik, and House of Masaba across the celebrations.

For all the colour, fashion, and international travel surrounding the wedding, the heart of their story remained simple. Mohinani's first ever Bumble message led her to Pandiyan, a proposal followed in Mykonos in July 2024, and they got married in December 2025. Their wedding may have unfolded across two countries, but it always came back to Singapore, the place where one very lucky first swipe changed everything.
