The cultural heritage of India came alive at Sulakshana Monga's show at the India Couture Week 2019.

Owing to her eminence for traditional handwork, luxurious textiles, bold cuts, and painterly patterns, Sulakshana Monga showcased her regal collection ‘The Cultural Cascade: VARANASI’ at the India Couture Week 2019.

Malaika Arora elegantly closed the show for Sulakshana Monga in an ethereal lime green lehenga and a trailing net dupatta with emerald jewellery. Flaunting zest and grandeur, the collection showcased a warm palette of seven colours inspired by the temple city's sunsets. With lively yellow, royal red and dusky pink, the ensembles exuberate with extravagant culture and heritage of India.

Blending antiquity with modernism, the collection encompasses intricate embellishments of sequins, Swarovski, ghungroos, feathers and traditional embroideries such as nakshi and dabka. Each garment enlightens power and individualism, drawing inspiration from the alluring culture found in the ghats of Varanasi and traditions of India. Sulakshana Monga pursues her aim for perpetual storytelling with this collection and celebrates eccentricity and opulence. Along with the designer's forte of bridal lehengas, the showcase also had gowns and contemporary silhouettes. The designer's contemporary take on the artistic heritage of India was nothing short of royalty.

The brand delved deeper into their fascination for spirituality with the ringing of temple bells and chanting of shlokas at the beginning of the show, which gradually blended into classical music.
