Guess What Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Are Asking For As Their Wedding Gift?
Want to gift the royal couple on their wedding? This is what they want.
So the countdown has officially begun. Not even 30 days to the most awaited wedding of the year!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are slated to walk down the aisle on May 19th, 2018 at the Windsor Castle in England. The royal wedding, infused with centuries of tradition and heritage, will be the most eventful day of their lives, as they exchange promises before the Queen and of course, the entire world. Quite literally.
And if you’re done looking up the designer of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress and trying to figure out the latest T on this royal wedding, here’s what. The royal couple have asked for a wedding gift. Yes, a wedding gift to mark the occasion of their royal nuptials, that’ll soon be etched in history.
Here’s an official statement issued by the Kensington Palace. 'Prince Harry & Ms. Meghan Markle are incredibly grateful for the goodwill they have received since their engagement, and have asked that anyone who might wish to mark the occasion of their wedding considers giving to charity, instead of sending a gift'.
The royal couple have listed down seven charitable organisations, representing a host of issues ranging from the welfare of HIV-infected people to environmental conservation, to the empowerment of homeless children and underprivileged women.
Here’s a list of the organisations:
1. Crisis, a London-based organisation offering support to homeless people, helping them rebuild their lives.
2. Myna Mahalia Foundation, a women’s welfare organisation in Mumbai, empowering underprivileged women and breaking taboos on menstrual health and hygiene. Ms. Markle’s association with this organisation goes back to the time when she met girls in Mumbai whose education was affected by social stigma related to menstruation, against which she later spoke out.
3. Children's HIV Association or CHIVA, an association in support of HIV-positive children growing up with their families across the U.K. and Ireland.
4. Scotty's Little Soldiers offers support to children who have lost their parents serving for the British Armed Forces.
5. Surfers Against Sewage, a national marine conservation unit that promotes the protection of oceans, beaches, wildlife and other natural habitats.
6. The Wilderness Foundation UK, an organisation encouraging the conservation of the great outdoors. Prince Harry previously worked with the organization in September 2017.
7. StreetGames, 'uses sports to empower young people to kick-start a cycle of positive change in their own lives,' according to the Palace. The royal couple met the members and volunteers of this charitable org during their visit to Cardiff, Wales this year.
Their decision to inculcate philanthropy into their royal wedding reflects on their love for charity work, which they will hopefully continue to pursue in the future. And if this isn't making you soak in their selfless and humble attitude, what will?
