Calling all the brides-to-be!

From timeless silhouettes to innovative designs, we can’t wait to see what this season of Lakmé Fashion Week has to offer us, especially since the wedding season is right around the corner. Like every year, Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 has brought together some of the most prominent minds in fashion, and we shine a spotlight on all the bridal, wedding, and festive outfit trends that emerge from the show.

Day 5

The last day of Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 was filled with fashion and drama. While it closed with Bhibhu Mohapatra’s return to the runway, we saw various designers like Sanjukta Dutta, Leena J Singh, De Belle, Paulmi and Harsh, showcase their ethnic wear collections.

Adah Sharma walked down the ramp for Sanjukta Dutta’s new collection ‘Sapoon’ in a bright yellow sari with a  large flower embellishment on the shoulder. The collection is the perfect blend of traditional as well as contemporary styles and designs. It features Indian motifs, prints and indo-western silhouettes.

De Belle showcased its collection ‘Nazara’ features a subdued palette of dusky earthy tones and delicate silhouettes. Sobbhita Dhulipala turned showstopper for this collection in a white and silver one-shouldered blouse and fish-cut lehenga.

Diana Penty turned showstopper for Paulmi and Harsh in an opulent lehenga (with pockets!) and choli that features a sweetheart neckline. Created for the modern-day bride who wants to express her femininity but in a contemporary way, the pieces in ‘Rooh’ are unique with subtle floral prints and deep hues.

Day 4

Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 witnessed a host of wedding collections by designers such as Fabiaana, Tasva, Anju Modi, Bhumika Sharma, Mahima Mahajan, and Vvani by Vani Vats. And if you’ve been following fashion week as closely as have, you know that the biggest bridal trend that has emerged (as it was especially clear on this day) was *drumroll please* — Ivory.

Actor Parineeti Chopra walked the ramp as the showstopper for Fabiaana in a caped and shimmering ivory-gold sari. Fabibaana’s collection “Qurbat” boasts the artistry of Chikankari embroidery, Banarasi fabric, Akoya and South Sea Pearls. With delicate Mukaish work adding some shimmer.

Vvani by Vani Vats showcased its collection ‘Piroi’ which draws its inspiration from the institution of marriage. Tamannaah Bhatia turned showstopper for this brand in a pearl-tasselled silver-ivory lehenga choli. This collection featured timeless bridal and wedding guest outfits that are suitable for numerous occasions.

Mahima Mahajan’s collection Fida featured floral prints and vibrant colours. It was all about fluidity and flow on light fabrics and feminine silhouettes. Tara Sutaria turned muse for this collection in a gorgeous cream-hued floral printed lehenga choli which is perfect for all bridesmaids!

Next, we have couturier Bhumika Sharma who drew inspiration for her Winter 2023 Festive collection from her own creative journey. This collection featured embellishments and embroideries. With an emphasis on a vibrant colour palette and prints, the essence of this collection lies in its delicate and feminine silhouettes. Actor Rakul Preet Singh turned showstopper for Bhumika Sharma in an ivory and red embroidered lehenga choli.

Actor Sanjana Sanghi turned showstopper for Anju Modi in a printed gold and ivory lehenga choli with a long veil. Anju Modi’s collection ‘The Rhythmic Symphony’ aims to transcend cultural boundaries and celebrate the union of romance and style. It features warm and deep colours and timeless silhouettes that are ideal for wedding or festive wear.

Day 3

Day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI was an action-packed one. Showstoppers like Janhvi Kapoor, Athiya Shetty, and Disha Patani sashayed down the ramp for designs like Amit Aggarwal, Shivan & Narresh, and Kalki respectively.

Our favourite look of the night was the Amit Aggarwal outfit Janhvi Kapoor was wearing. A black and silver bralette paired with a fitted black skirt. It gave us head-turning cocktail glam. Aggarwal's collection featured loose shirts and off-shoulder dresses, jackets and more in hues of deep blue, red and black.

Walking for Shivan & Narresh, Athiya Shetty wore a gradient sarong dress. The entire collection gave us tropical honeymoon vibes!

Kalki's collection 'Zayra' consisted of graceful gowns and opulent sarees. Disha Patani looked gorgeous in an ivory-hued lehenga. The collection features timeless silhouettes that transcend boundaries. From elegant gowns, and saris with trails, veils and fish cuts, this collection was ethereal.

Day 2

Day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 saw some ace designers present their gorgeous collections. Among those were Payal Pratap and Abraham & Thakore that presented semi-ethnic wear, giving us honeymoon outfit inspiration and cocktail glam.

Payal Pratap’s collection 'The Soft Parade' was an ode to the rich handicraft of Kutch. It featured a mix of handwoven khadi cottons and handloom linens. From floral motifs and geometric prints to asymmetrical silhouettes, we can totally see ourselves donning this collection on a honeymoon or your next big vacation with bae!

On the other hand, Abraham & Thakore’s collection named 'Body Language', sent models down the ramp donning the brand's signature monochrome colours and timeless silhouettes. The theme was explored through the meticulous craftsmanship of ikat, ajrakh, brocades, badla, sequin, and fine laser cut work.

This collection was a mix of casual and ethnic wear. It featured embellished and printed saris, dhoti sets, and much more. These outfits are giving us all the cocktail-glam inspiration we need this season and we’re here for it!

Day 1

On Day 1 of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023, couturiers Varun Bhal and Tarun Tahiliani presented some gorgeous bridal outfits.

Bahl’s collection 'Inner Bloom’ was inspired by his connection with nature. The floral motif that showed up on most of his outfits symbolises renewal and hope. The collection featured three-dimensional embroideries, opulent materials, and masterful craftsmanship.

Bahl’s collection showcased soothing tones, layered outfits, and, of course, it was floral galore. The collection is perfect for all those looking for bridal or wedding guest sangeet/ cocktail outfits inspiration.

Day 1 of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 closed with Tarun Tahiliani’s show in collaboration with Kohler. Tahiliani’s collection is a celebration of self-expressionism. It marries new-age designs with classic artisanal crafts and are ideal for cocktail glam or festive elegance.

Throughout the collection, we saw shimmering metallics (as we predicted, they were here to stay this season) and timeless, flowy silhouettes. This collection was made for the modern Indian bride and groom.

Opening show

The six-day fashion parade kicked off last night at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi with the Lakmé Glitterati X Raw Mango show. Raw Mango's collection ‘Children of the Night’ was inspired by the world that comes alive after dark. It featured an array of deconstructed saris, indo-western silhouettes, pantsuits, and more in metallic hues, knitwear, and kaleidoscopic weaves.

Karisma Kapoor, Saba Azad, and Kalki Koechlin sashayed down the ramp for Raw Mango. Kapoor donned a metallic gold pantsuit with a bandgala blue jacket (a great outfit inspiration for a cocktail!), while Koechlin was in an innovatively draped sari with a one-shoulder blouse and Azad walked in an all-gold pantsuit.

We saw a lot of different kinds of drapes, flowy silhouettes, and glittering metallics (which we expect to see across numerous shows).
