AISHWARYA SINGH

Model

“The outfit I am wearing is by a dear friend, Sawan—I picked it up for a friend's sangeet and I think the colours are perfect for a summer wedding. It features beautiful sequins and mukaish- and chikan-infused work...a light-weight piece that is perfect to dance the night away. A busy schedule means I rarely find the time to shop, so I enjoy restyling my clothes. I tend to seek out classic whites, reds, and this season's youthful, bright colours like soft-yellow or lavender. Also, I really enjoy wearing boho jewellery. The one accessory I count on is the belt—I belt most Indianwear outfits to make my sari or dupatta stay in place (plus, it looks so flattering). And I enjoy wearing a comfortable pair or sneakers or boots under a lehenga—it's a little secret you can totally get away with!”

ESHAA AMIN

Celebrity Stylist

“I chose to wear a ruffled sari with a printed blouse that features a cold shoulder and voluminous sleeves. This outfit is by a young, incredibly talented designer called Gunu Sahni. I wore this outfit a few months
ago, to a friend's mehendi-cum-sangeet function, and styled it with a complementing belt, strappy heels, and big chaandbaali earrings in gold with diamonds. The earrings are a gift from my mother, as part of my wedding trousseau. My signature style, when it comes to Indianwear, is ‘sexy and stylish’. I am drawn to effortless outfits, and like the make-up to match that vibe. When in doubt, I'll pick ivory or a bright, solid colour...a piece of statement jewellery always helps complete the look wonderfully.”

SONAM BABANI

Celebrity Stylist & Luxury Consultant

“I’m wearing a pearl-embellished lehenga with an off-shoulder velvet blouse by Cherie D. I have teamed the outfit with an emerald necklace from Vandals World, bracelet from Mahesh Notandas, and a clutch from Judith Leiber Couture. My ‘sangeet style’ tends to lean towards high-impact glamour, and I achieve that through a dramatic silhouette (like a Gaurav Gupta outfit) worn with diamond jewellery, or a super embellished lehenga teamed with precious stone jewellery. I rely on the power of emerald pieces often— beautiful earrings or a choker can elevate even the most basic looks. I’m always sneaking into my mum’s jewellery vault—her gold pieces from the ‘80s are my favourite! You don’t find such pieces anymore...”

VIDHI GUPTA

Co-founder, Zariin Jewellery

“I am wearing an Arpita Mehta outfit—an asymmetric cape with relaxed-fit trousers. I’ve styled it with a maang tikka and Zariin’s Born to Differ earring-cum-necklace. This outfit is a recent purchase, and I love the camel shade. I’m still waiting for the perfect occasion to wear it to...perhaps a summer wedding or daytime mehendi function? I like to accessorise my looks with Zariin jewellery, whether from the Indian or contemporary collections. I believe jewellery can make all the difference—the same outfit can look casual-chic if paired with simple drop earrings and a maang tikka; or it can be elevated to the next level if you add a polki multi-layered necklace!”

GOPALIKA VIRMANI

Founder, Multimedia Communications

“I chose this Jayanti Reddy piece for its beautiful zardozi work and how versatile it is—whether you add statement jewellery or minimal pieces to the mix, the outfit speaks for itself. I have never worn purple  before, but now I am sold. For wedding functions, you’ll nearly always see me in deep-cut blouses and outfits that look heavy, but are incredibly light to carry. An easy outfit will help you dance until the wee hours, and without that, a wedding doesn't feel complete. Finally, do drape your outfit for comfort. Here, I have front-draped my dupatta; it’s a technique I discovered recently, and I absolutely love it.”
