DIY face masks for clear and glowing skin
Give your skin a much needed TLC.
There aren’t many skin concerns that can’t be solved by a good DIY face mask. With the right ingredients, you can hydrate, brighten and even breathe life back into dry and dull skin. And so, the next time you have been scrolling through various beauty websites to find just the right one, look into your kitchen. We’ve listed down a few DIY masks you can make very easily in your kitchen and give your skin the TLC it deserves.
Honey and avocado mask
If you have dry and dull skin, this mask should be a constant on your weekly skincare routine. To make it, mash half an avocado and mix it with a tablespoon of honey. Avocado is rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and antioxidants that can brighten your skin, while honey is a natural humectant that hydrates the skin. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash off with warm water for a natural glow.
Greek yogurt and turmeric mask
Yogurt is an unsung beauty hero. Its lactic acid gently exfoliates the skin. Mix yoghurt with turmeric and you’ll see an instant natural glow on your skin. Turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that nourish and soothe the skin. Apply the mask for 15 minutes, then rinse.
Aloe vera and witch hazel mask
If you have oily and acne-prone skin and have to be extremely careful of the products you use, this mask can be an excellent weekly substitute. To make it, mix 1 tablespoon of French green clay, ½ teaspoon green tea (matcha powder), 1 tablespoon of fresh aloe vera gel, and 2 teaspoons of witch hazel extract. Mix it all with 5 drops of rosewood essential oil and 2 tablespoons of rose water. This mask is a super potent skin cleansing formula. It helps clean the pores, purify & tighten the skin, leaving it healthy and radiant. Apply the mixture cold on the face and leave for 15 to 20 minutes.
Oatmeal and cucumber mask
Cucumber has hydrating and soothing effects while oatmeal brings antioxidants and anti-inflammatory prowess to the table. To make this, blend half a cucumber and a cup of oatmeal. It helps to soothe irritated skin and remove dead skin cells. Apply the mask for 20 minutes, then rinse.
Egg white and lemon mask
Eggs are as good for your face as they are for your hair. They help to tighten the skin and shrink pores. On the other hand, lemon juice can lighten blemishes and provide a natural glow to the skin. To make this, mix one egg white with a teaspoon of lemon juice.
Always remember to patch-test these masks on your skin to ensure there's no adverse reaction.
