Take cues from Kiara Advani’s bridal lookbook for that effortless glow
Soft glam meets pastel tones for this minimalist celebrity bride.
On February 7, Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra tied the knot in what can only be described as a dreamy wedding ceremony set against the backdrop of luxury boutique resort, Suryagarh in Jaisalmer. Safe to say, our social media feeds since then have been flooded with images of the newlyweds and their fairytale nuptials. And who can forget the bride’s walk down the aisle as she stunned in a custom Manish Malhotra creation?
We break down her bridal look spread over the week-long celebrations and give you tips on how to ace that minimalist bridal glow, effortlessly.
The wedding
For the wedding ceremony, Advani wore custom Manish Malhotra which the ace couturier was personally involved in creating. The empress-rose, ombré-hued lehenga featured intricate detailing and light gold thread work. Paying homage to the couple’s love for their favourite city Rome and its architecture, the delicate embroidery featured domes, and to top off the glam quotient, the lehenga was encrusted with thousands of Swarovski crystals.
For her make-up, Advani kept it simple, letting her flawless skin take centre stage with barely-there makeup. A soft, rosy lip complemented her dewy skin, along with a swipe of soft pink on the lids and generous coatings of mascara. The rest of the face was kept clean and minimalist. Stepping away from the trend of doing glamorous nails, Advani instead chose to keep it fuss-free and bare. The hair was tied back in a simple floral bun and complemented her overall look.
For her jewelley, she wore bespoke Manish Malhotra diamond jewellery. The statement necklace, comprising ultra fine hand-cut diamonds and rare Zambian emeralds, stole the show. A pair of shows-topping studs, delicate haathphool and a maang tikka, completed her bijoux. She also wore custom made kaleeras by Mrinalini Chandra.
Pro tip: to get this barely-there makeup look, make sure your skincare routine is flawless prior to your wedding. Invest in the right skincare products and tools and indulge in a regular routine to keep the skin looking fresh and healthy. Don’t go trying new products a week before the wedding so you don’t have to deal with last-minute flare ups.
The Mehendi
We loved the cheery yellows, whites and florals that made up the couple’s mehendi ceremony. For this day-time function, the bride donned a mustard yellow and ivory chikankari lehenga, paired with a beaded pearl blouse and a golden-yellow dupatta for that pop of colour.
She opted for a soft braid that framed the face. Again, the make-up was kept minimal with lots of highlighter and nude tones for the lips and eyes, lending an effortless glow. The jewellery was a talking point yet again with an elegant polki choker, earrings and rani haar encrusted with pastel-hued stones.
Pro-tip: you don’t always need to go with bright-hued yellows and greens for a day-time mehendi. Instead, opt for a soft colour palette and keep the outfit simple and fuss-free, so you can enjoy the festivities.
The wedding receptions
We saw the bride up the glam quotient for these events. At the Mumbai reception, she wore a figure-hugging, sculpted ivory and ebony gown that let the jewellery do the talking (literally). Here, the jewels were the showstopper where she adorned a gorgeous diamond choker and chest-grazing layered diamond necklaces (featuring emeralds again) for added effect.
For the Delhi reception, Advani dazzled in a gold ensemble, which was also crystal-encrusted and ombré-hued, transitioning from shades of gold to silver and featuring 98,000 Swarovski crystals for extra oomph. The jewellery was minimal this time around where she adorned a statement diamond necklace from Manish Malhotra Jewellery with a large, dangling ruby pendant.
The receptions saw her try out different hair dos. While glamorous waves complemented her gold ensemble at the Delhi reception, she sported a chic bun that let the focus be on the face for the Mumbai event. A clean base and smoky eyes complemented nude lips for an understated look.
Pro-tip: Don’t go overboard with the entire look. If you want to follow the maximalist trend, keep it limited to just one part of your look, either the jewellery or ensemble.
Overall, we loved how the bride mixed traditional and contemporary styles, keeping her look minimal and giving other brides-to-be plenty of inspiration.
