No matter what your hair type, our experts have a hairstyle for you. Best part? These fresh-off-the-ramp styles suit every type of bride.

Only days to go for your wedding and you still haven't decided on what to do to your hair? We picked six experts to give us the lowdown on hairstyles for different types of manes and what products and treatments suit them best.

1. Short Curly Hair

Curly hair can prove to be a task when it comes to care and taming. However, with newer products and tools in the market, pulling of a chic hairstyle has become easier than ever. Straight off winter-festive ramps, curly hair found the spotlight with big, voluminous, and messy hairstyles that were oozing glamour. “Curly hair is in constant need of moisture and nothing is better than a Keratin treatment,” says Arpit Jain, founder of Auraine Botanicals, which brought GK Hair products to India. “Usually, curly hair has a lot of frizz and is highly tangled, which makes it impossible to wash regularly. Post Keratin treatments, curly hair becomes silky and more manageable. It is great for strengthening your hair and not necessarily straightening it,” he adds.

A treatment like the Sebastian Professional Hydre Treatment ensures your hair is washed, moisturised, and styled with products that deliver a lot of moisture to your locks,” says Mayank Sharma, a Sebastian Professional trainer. Sharma also suggests using a shine serum or a taming cream after each wash to provide hydration and to ensure your locks are always ready to paint the town red.

How to do it:

Step 1. Thorughly wash your hair to remove any kind of build-up and rinse it with water. Use a shampoo and conditioner specifically meant for curly hair types.

Step 2. Use a velcro roller to roll up the crown section of your mane. Then, blow dry your hair in sections, drying the crown area towards the end.

Step 3. Remove the velcro roller and side-part your hair. Now, use tongs to curl the lengths of your mane from mid-length, right till the ends.

Step 4. Remove the tongs and gently diffuse the hair curled with tongs. Pin your hair at mid-length with the area that has been curled with tongs let loose.

Step 5. Use your fingers or a teaser comb to backcomb  the area to create volume and messy curls. For longer hair, secure hair ends behind each ear, to form a bob, before the above step.

Step 6. Use a soft-hold spray for your hairstyle to stay intact. You can apply a shine serum for a glossy finish.

2. Mid-Length Straight Hair

While women with straight hair are considered lucky, truth is only a woman with straight hair knows the struggles of generating volume and waves. Exactly the opposite of wavy and curly hair, straight hair tends to become limp and lifeless when exposed to moisture. Recommended by the experts, a Schwarzkopf Professional Brazilnut treatment nourishes the hair, making it stronger, smoother, and shinier. Not just that, regular hair spas can ensure that straight hair regains its strength and is capable of generating volume. Nitin Manchanda, technical head of Schwarzkopf Professional India swears by the Omega 3 and 9 present in Brazilnut, an Amazonian power ingredient.

Vinod, the style director of Toni&Guy, Greater Kailash-2, New Delhi suggests an Olaplex in-salon treatment to maintain the natural texture of your hair. The treatment also reduces damage and makes your hair more pliable and easy to work with.

How to do it:

Step 1. Cleanse your hair with gentle cleansing shampoo and moisturising conditioner.

Step 2. Use a blow dryer to dry your hair straight and use a wet gel on the crown area to keep it in place and give you the desired effect.

Step 3. Centre-part your hair and pull it all back into a ponytail. Now, fold the ponytail in half and pin half of the leftover hair right above the nape of your neck.

Step 4. Use the rest of the hair to twist and conceal the rubber band securing your ponytail. Pin it under your ponytail.

Step 5. Use a finishing spray that not just provides a wet look but also keeps fly-aways in check.

3. Short Wavy Hair

Why think of diva-like, bouncy curly as a thing is the past? Recreate old-school hairstyles in a few simple steps if you have wavy hair that refuses to bend to your will. Michele Finessi, the art director of Rosano Ferretti, swears by the Kérastase Oleo Curl treatment, which delivers a combination of various nourishing oils through shampoos, conditioners, and masks. “Natural, soft, and romantic waves are trending as opposed to heavily layered or thick waves,” says Michele, adding, “Avoid using a dryer for drying hair or for styling it. Once you’re done washing your hair, apply a good serum and, if you must use a dryer, don’t forget to use a diffuser.”

With some care, the right products, and a whole lot of moisturisation, your waves can turn into the stuff dreams are made of. Samantha Kochhar, managing director of Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies suggests using a setting spray whenever you set out to execute a hairstyle. This ensures that your waves stay intact and your hairstyle takes mere minutes. Another handy tips is to make sure you use a leave-in conditioner after a shower for soft, nourished waves.

How to do it:

Step 1. Shampoo and condition your hair according to your texture. Always use products specific to your hair type.

Step 2. Blow dry your hair using your fingers to lift different sections vertically upwards. Make sure you leave your hair 50 per cent wet and 50 per cent dry.

Step 3. Work with a round brush and dryer to form waves in your hair.

Step 4. Use a paddle brush on the crown area to dry it. Part your hair to one side, leaving only a small section on the other. Then, use a teaser to backcomb the crown area for volume.

Step 5. Apply a styling wax on your hair for your waves to generate a dramatic effect. Make sure you use a wax that has a matte finish.

Step 6. Use a matte setting spray and serum to finish your look. This style is easiest to pull off on medium-thick, naturally wavy hair.
