Whether it’s pre-wedding jitters or the beginning of summer sweat, we’ve got you covered

In all the happy memories taken to film, we often forget the stress that comes along with the wedding day—you misplaced a crucial part of your wedding ensemble, or perhaps a relative is being difficult. What about last minute cancellations and delays? And with all this comes stress sweat! To say nothing of what Indian summers can do to you in the midst of all the running around, dressed in heavy clothes and dancing the night away. Of course you don’t want any of this to affect how you smell or feel, which is why it is best to be prepared. Here are some of our top hacks to keep that pesky stress sweat at bay:

Let’s start with the hair
Your hair can be one of the first things to get sweaty and is often neglected in pre-wedding care, which is why managing it expertly should come first.

For starters, try a hair up-do to keep your hair away from the face and neck as much as possible. If you really want to let your hair down, try a style that calls for using less product, like simple beach waves. Whatever you choose, hairspray is your best friend to withstand the sweat, and don't forget the all-important dry shampoo for a quick bathroom fix. Also, we recommend a finishing stick for flyaways. We recently tried the Nourish Mantra Hair Finishing Stick and cannot help marvel at the magic of this simple wand.

Moving on to the face
Before we start recommending the right products, we have to say, make sure you refrigerate them. This gives you a head start to otherwise warm makeup. Once that's done, go for oil-free everything, starting with a cleansing toner. Opt for an anti-shine, water-based primer and make sure you don’t miss the eyelids or ears. Waterproof makeup is ideal, but matte makeup is necessary to combat an oily, sweaty face. A setting powder or spray will be your best friend. Ask your friends or family members to carry oil absorbing or blotting sheets for you, in case you're in need of an emergency fix.

For those troublesome underarms, back and breasts
These are definitely trouble areas when it comes to sweat, so let’s get to it. There is nothing like a good antiperspirant. Make sure you find an aluminium-free one to ensure it doesn’t leave stains. An unscented one is preferable so it blends with your perfume of choice. Add in a good aluminium-free chafing powder, one that applies as a cream but sets as powder, This is sure to keep all of you dry and fresh, especially sensitive areas.

Lastly, the hands and feet
For the hands, a simple hand sanitiser can dry out sweat instantly, so make sure to add that to your list of necessary products. As for the feet, apart from a quick spritz of an aluminium-free antiperspirant, here’s a pro-tip you'll thank us for later—spray the insides of your shoes with hairspray to keep from slipping because of sweat!

Of course, let’s not forget that while we focus on topical treatments, what we eat and drink is equally important. Sweat means a dip in your hydration levels, so make sure to keep sipping on water if you’re sweating. And while this may be difficult with those wedding jitters, staying away from caffeine and alcohol is recommended, while avoiding oily and spicy food should definitely be a mandate.
