Here’s how you can celebrate Women’s Day with your girls
Here’s to those who make life an adventure.
Female friendships are immensely important. Women understand each other, where they’re coming from and what they’re feeling. They’re there to support you through all your decisions (even the stupid ones). They’re there to give you all the love in the world when you think you’re not good enough. These are the women in our lives that need to be celebrated every day—the ones who will show up at your house without a text or phone call (they don’t need to), the ones who encourage you take on the world and pick you up when you fall down. And with Women’s Day just around the corner, here’s how you can celebrate your girlfriends and everything they are.
Go glamping
If you and your gal pals are the outdoorsy kinds, you can choose to go glamping! You can go the extra mile and customise matching night suits or sleeping masks for the group. Sit around a bonfire on a starry night with hot chocolate and marshmallows. You can spend the day playing games such as Taboo, dumb charades, or even badminton. Indulge in some barbeque by the campfire and dance away to your favourite tunes. Take a moment and tell each other what you’re grateful for in your friendship and open up about your thoughts and feelings (it’s a safe space).
Brunching
If you’re the 'dress up in cocktail dresses with a mimosa-in-your-hand' kinda girl, then celebrate your closest friends by planning a fancy Sunday brunch. You can decide on a dress code or a theme and glam up accordingly. You can have a Polaroid photo booth for clicking those fancy poses, hugs, squishes and kisses. Spend your Sunday in a chic, classy, and adorable way with your girls, talking, dancing and eating your woes away. If you want to go the extra mile, go to a restaurant with female head chef, or curate customised gifts from small businesses owned by women.
Get your friends together to support a women-based non-profit
India has a number of organisations that are focused on empowering rural women by teaching them skills and making them financially independent. Visit one of these organisations with your friends to spend time with these women, raise funds for them, or create an awareness campaign. Here’s your cue to celebrate women—for where they come from, what they do, and the impact they create.
Gifts galore
If you and your girl gang happen to be working on Women’s Day—don’t fret. Give them a pleasant mid-week surprise by sending over a handwritten letter, a bouquet of flowers, or their favourite dessert, to their office. Celebrate them and their work, and let them know that you’re proud of them and there to cheer them on, forever! You can even customise a diary, jewellery, or their favourite nick-knacks and gift it to them as a reminder of what they mean to you!
Have a night out on the town
For those who love to glam up and let their hair down, head to the club that plays your favourite songs and dance the night away with your friends. It’s your day! Put on your sparkly, sequinned dress and, and head out for a memorable night. If you want to be adventurous, go club-hopping until the wee hours of the morning and end the memorable night with a cup of cutting chai at your favourite tapri (tea stall) before you head back home.
