Bookmark these places for your dream destination wedding

For those who want a Yash Chopra movie-type...

Ever since I watched the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, when I was 13 years old, I’ve wanted to (at least) attend a destination wedding with my best friends. To put it simply, it’s the big fat Indian wedding—functions, lehengas and all—but intimate. Destination weddings call for fewer people, more quality time, less formality smiles, dancing till dawn, and having everything just the way you like it. To all the brides and grooms-to-be, you can choose a destination and curate a wedding as per your preferences and truly have the fairy-tale wedding of your dreams. Here, we just made it a tad bit easier for you.

Marrakech, Morocco

If you’re fan of the sun, sand, and vibrancy of middle-eastern culture, we’d definitely recommend planning your wedding in Marrakech, Morocco. The medieval city is home to a host of mosques, palaces, and gardens, and is known for its terracotta structures, textiles, pottery, and jewellery. Choose a theme and plan your décor, food, clothes and invites accordingly. There are also a number of hotels where you can host your wedding—from the Taj Villa, which can accommodate up to 50 people to the popular La Mamounia, which can accommodate up to 300 guests.

Gir, Gujarat

For those couples who love nothing but to be surrounded by grasslands and wild animals, hosting a wedding in Gir may be a great idea. Take your pheras and say your vows amid scenic safaris and stunning sunsets. This is also the perfect way to make it a sustainable and eco-friendly wedding with reusable décor and more. The Mango Resort at Sasan Gir is ideal for your dream destination wedding. You can choose to have the mehendi ceremony along the banks of the Hiren River, a pool-side haldi and the wedding in the midst of mango orchard! What more could you want?

Occitanie, France

Head to Paris with your boo, to say ‘I Do’ amidst the vineyards of Occitanie in Southern France. If you’re one of those people who has always been taken in by the beauty of fairy-tales, set in the countryside of European countries, then this is definitely the place for you. With ancient castles and chateaus, white roses, wine, and wedding cake is all you need to make it a perfect wedding day. Have yourself a truly picturesque wedding in a vineyard, with a view of a castle during  sunset.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

We got nothing against Lake Como, but if you’re looking for a destination that is just a little less-known, but idyllic all the same, then Amalfi Coast should definitely be on your list of possible wedding destinations. With cute beaches, stunning views of the oceans and a pastel-coloured town, the Amalfi Coast is everything fun, quirky, and adorable. Cue ‘Sooraj Ki Baahon Mein’ as the two of you enter the venue, hand in hand, dancing together. From Villa Astor to Ca Pa Privata, these are venues you should definitely consider for your wedding day.

Tulum, Mexico

Here’s another destination for all the beach babies out there. Tulum in Mexico has been an increasingly popular wedding destination for couples across the globe. The city is a perfect blend of historical architecture, culture and urban-chic vibes—cocktail dresses, sundowners by the beach and all. If you want a sunset wedding by the beach, then Sanara is the ideal property for your big day, among others.
