5 romantic destinations that are perfect for a pre-wedding getaway

Between all the frenzy of planning your fairy tale wedding, looking into last-minute details and dealing with all the emotions that a wedding brings with it—it wouldn’t do much harm to take some time off with your beau. Although you may not have the luxury of taking too long of a break before the wedding shenanigans, we’d definitely recommend taking a short trip for a quick, romantic escape. Here's a list of destinations that make the cut and are just as romance-worthy. 

Meghalaya 

If the two of you love nothing more than waking up to the sounds of nature and being surrounded by lush greenery, then Meghalaya is definitely the place for you. Located in Northeastern India, Meghalaya is home to gorgeous landscapes, waterfalls, and diverse flora and fauna such as the clouded leopard, elephant, gaur and sambar, residing in the state’s sub-tropical forests. You can also take in the sights of the living roots bridges or go boating in the crystal clear waters of the River Umngot. Hike up to the many waterfalls here, and give yourselves a much-needed digital detox and time away from the din of city life. Puducherry

 Here’s one for all the sand-in-the-hair and lover of tan lines kind of couple. Puducherry is a quaint city and a former French colony, just a short drive away from Chennai. Head to the local bazaars, especially Johri Bazaar, that offer some great shopping, from jewellery and clothes to trinkets and colourful knick knacks. Don’t miss out on the local lassi and kachoris that the city is famous for. Indulge in a typical Rajasthani thali and experience the state's renowned hospitality. Dubai

Sri Lanka 

Sun, sand, palm trees, blue waters and decadent cuisine—what more do you need? Head over to Sri Lanka for a getaway to remember. You can stay at a tea plantation, go glamping, or even head out for a safari to spot some leopards at the famed Yala National Park.
