A celeb-inspired guide to donning a pant set at your wedding

Ditch the traditional saree and lehenga for some power play!

While lehengas and sarees have been  go-to choices for the Indian bride, the tide is slowly shifting since the past few years, with several new-age brides preferring to wear a pantsuit or a pant set, which is usually a three-piece outfit with a blouse and a jacket paired with pants, for one of their wedding event, or even the main ceremony. There is more to picking a pant set on your big day than just going against the norm—comfort is a big factor too. Wearing a pant set is definitely more comfortable than ornate lehengas that can weigh you down, or sarees whose pallus you have to constantly keep adjusting. Plus, with designers marrying Indian handloom crafts like Chikankari with modern silhouettes, it’s never been a better time to wear this chic ensemble at your own wedding. And if you’re in need of more convincing, then these five celebrities looks will do just the trick.

Madhuri Dixit Nene

In this look styled by Ami Patel, Dixit-Nene is seen wearing a floral three-piece outfit complete with wide-legged pants, a fitted blouse, and a free-flowing, embellished cape that skims the floor. Take inspiration and don a pant set at one of your wedding ceremonies—we think this would make for a fun sangeet look. Plus, capes are in at the moment, so you’ll be on trend!

Athiya Shetty

For one of her wedding rituals with cricketer KL Rahul, Shetty wore a custom Anjul Bhandari pantsuit, making a case for brides everywhere to pick the comfortable yet chic outfit for their big day. She donned a white Lucknowi Chikankari suit with loose pants, a corset, and a blazer. She paired it with white sneakers and minimal jewellery for an understated look.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas

If you’re someone who likes to make a bold statement and are a lover of all things extravagant, then take a leaf out of the stylish actor’s look—she wore a printed Rahul Mishra pantsuit for one of her appearances while in Mumbai last year. This would be perfect for a sangeet or cocktail ceremony. Just remember to keep your makeup and jewellery basic so it doesn’t look too much!

Pooja Hegde

A great option for a breezy spring or summer wedding, this look, styled by Tanya Ghavri has Pooja Hegde rocking an embellished ivory pant set. The encrusted and fringed blouse lends a chic vibe and the sheer cape with a scalloped hem adds an element of fun to an otherwise classic look. Instead of the usual pinks and greens, turn heads at your mehendi ceremony with this muted outfit worn with elaborate jewellery.

Rashmika Mandanna

This one is straight out of a fairytale! Mandanna’s outfit by designer Anamika Khanna, might have a lot going on, but everything comes together seamlessly for an ethereal look. From the floral printed pants, the sheer dupatta that has delicate appliqué work all around its hem, to the matching embellished blouse, this is ideal for a dreamy mehendi or sangeet look!
