5 DIY face masks that will help you achieve that bridal glow

Pamper yourself with these easy hacks!

We belong to a country that has, for hundreds of years, relied heavily on traditional homemade remedies or nuskhas as we fondly call them for quick fixes and giving ourselves that glow-from-within look. Across the country and its myriad regions, you will find people using tried-and-tested ingredients along with recipes that have been passed down over generations. And what better time than your own wedding to put these to good use?

So, in the midst of all the chaos involved in planning your wedding, we’d definitely recommend taking out some 'me time' to pamper yourself with these nourishing and cleansing masks. From the anti-bacterial properties of turmeric powder to comforting malai, avocado, cucumber and honey—there’s a DIY face mask for every skin type and it doesn’t even require you to go on that grocery run. Just look into your pantry for these staples. Here are 5 face masks that will help give you that much-wanted bridal glow.

To get rid of dark circles

Planning a wedding can mean sleepless nights spent figuring out every small detail of your big day, and balancing it all with work, personal commitments and your social life. But fret not, we’ve got just the perfect thing for you. Content creator, Kalasini Rani gives us a quick, two-ingredient recipe for an under-eye mask that will say goodbye to those stubborn dark circles.

What you will need:
Ground coffee
Honey

The star ingredient here is definitely coffee which effectively helps constrict the blood vessels and temporarily tightens the skin. Combine your coffee grounds with honey until you have a liquid mixture (don’t make it too runny). Use a brush to apply it on your under-eye region. Leave it on for about ten minutes and you'll notice an almost instant difference.

For some much-needed cooling on a hot summer day

If you’re having a summer wedding, use this face pack at least a month prior. This will definitely help hydrate your skin and give it that glow, especially on hot, humid days. Actor and skincare fanatic, Alaya F, helps us with this quick and easy mask recipe.

What you will need:
Grated cucumber
Crushed mint leaves
Honey
Curd
Besan or gram flour to make it thicker (optional)

Both cucumber and curd are cooling ingredients and together this makes for the perfect remedy for the scorching summer heat. All you need to do is mix the ingredients together, apply it on your face for about ten-fifteen minutes and then gently rinse it off.

To get rid of acne

Acne can be frustrating—especially when you’re doing all you can to keep it at bay, whether it's drinking enough water and eating clean to using expert-recommended face washes. How about you try a homemade face pack for that clear, glowing skin before you tie the knot? Recommended by Huda Beauty, this facemask is anti-bacterial and a natural exfoliator.

What you will need:
Honey
Nutmeg
Milk

Mix the ingredients to make a thin paste and apply it on your face for about fifteen minutes. After this, all you need to do is rinse your face with warm water and apply your dermat-approved face cream or moisturiser. You'll be happy and blemish-free on your wedding day.

For that extra glow

On the days when everything gets too overwhelming and all you need is some alone time, use this face mask for that extra glow. This is especially useful in the days leading up to the wedding. The best part is, it doesn’t require you  to go anywhere beyond your refrigerator.

What you will need:
Curd
Pumpkin puree

Yes, you read it right. Pumpkin is packed with vitamins that will help brighten your skin. The presence of hyrdoxy acids acts as a natural exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells, while antioxidants such as Vitamin C help in brightening, smoothing and cleansing the skin to give you that radiant glow. Mix the two ingredients and leave it on your face for ten-fifteen minutes. Then, rinse with warm water.

For oily skin

If you’re one of those who struggles with oily skin, take solace in the fact that you’re definitely not the only one. Oily skin can clog your pores and cause pimples, blemishes and inflammation. But we have just the thing for you.

What you will need:
Banana
Lemon Juice
Olive Oil

Bananas are helpful in absorbing the oil secreted by the pores of your skin and lemon juice will help cleanse the pores and brighten your skin. First, mash the banana in a bowl and combine it with the lemon juice and olive oil. Apply it on your face, leave it for ten minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
