7 Wellness Goals You Must Make Prior To Your D-Day

Last minute wedding preparations can take a toll on your body, which is why you need to plan ahead by setting some essential wellness goals..

Your wedding, possibly the most important day of your life is almost here! And you have just a while left before you plunge into exhaustive bridal duties. So why not plan ahead? Maybe eat and drink healthy to make sure that you are all prepped for the big day. While focusing on aspects including skincare, makeup, and the works, taking care of your health must be your top most priority. At no cost must you compromise on your health, something you will be in desperate need off throughout your wedding errands. Keeping this in mind, we spoke to Harshita Dilawri - Nutritionist and Diabetic Educator, Dr Shikha Sharma - Nutri-Health Systems Pvt. Ltd and Dr Tina Sapra - a Registered Dietician with the American Dietetic Association, to help you chart out some wellness goals you can follow prior to your D-day.

I WILL DRINK UP!

You must make water your best friend for the days to come. Staying well hydrated not only affects our mental functioning, but also helps flush out toxins from the body and prevents us from catching common flu's and illnesses. It is also advisable that you reduce your alcohol and caffeine intake through tea, coffee and aerated drinks, as it blocks the body's ability to replenish the rich and nutritious food consumed and dehydrates the body severely.

I WILL EAT MY GREENS

You must include as many nutritious vegetables and exotic fruits in your diet, in order to flush out those unwanted toxins out of your system and feel energetic. Include Vitamin C enriched fruits in your diet, as they will increase your immunity, and will also help you achieve dewy and glowing skin.

I WILL BID GOODBYE TO SUGAR & SPICE

Since most of us are either sugar or spice lovers, saying goodbye may seem harder than you had envisioned. But we ought to learn to give up a few things for desirable results. Maintaining a balanced diet allows us to establish an overall balance in the body as well. Sugar can cause weight gain, while excess spices can lead to bowel problems, all of which you do not want to be dealing with prior to your wedding. Junk food and other preservative foods must certainly be avoided as well.

I WILL WORK OUT

Diet and exercise work together. Thereby, along with eating a healthy diet, one must engage in regular exercise as well. Going for a brisk walk, practicing yoga, or doing basic cardio exercises, for even 30 minutes, can make a huge difference to your body. Regular exercise will help you keep those pre-wedding jitters in check, will promote healthy sleep, and will surely keep your energy levels soaring! For those of you who prefer going to the gym, make sure you inform your instructor about your diet and your fitness goals, so they can accordingly curate an exercise plan for you.

I WILL FOLLOW THE 'EARLY TO BED, EARLY TO RISE' RULE

It's important for you to be charged up for your big day, and this is only possible if you establish a healthy sleep-wake cycle. Insufficient sleep, besides making you dull, increases your hunger pangs and results in over-munching, which leads to weight gain. A minimum 8 hours of sleep is sufficient to keep you going through the day.

I WILL NOT SKIP MY BREAKFAST

Breakfast is believed to be the most important meal of the day, so it is imperative that you do not skip it. Instead, eat a healthy and hearty breakfast by including more fibre and protein in your meal. Eating breakfast also helps maintain your metabolic rate at all levels.

I WILL RELAX AND MEDITATE

Since we end up stressing for a lot of reasons before the wedding, the stress begins to show up on our face and body. Believe it or not, stress and anxiety is partially responsible for acne, weight gain, insomnia, and a gamut of other problems that we do not need to be dealing with before the special day. Henceforth, engaging in some breathing exercises or practicing meditation, in order to increase the oxygen levels in the body and skin, is recommended.

Well-being is an all-encompassing concept, involving all facets of your health. Hence, it is important for you to feel happy and healthy from both outside and within.
