5 Ways To Ace A Bohemian-Themed Wedding

A charming wedding amongst woodlands faeries or a relaxed beach one with sand in your hair and salt in the air, if a bohemian wedding is your dream, there are a lot of ways to plan one and ace it.

Here are a few things to remember while planning your fantasy wedding to nail the bohemian theme.

1. Venue

Picking a venue for a themed-wedding can be tough. Whether you pick an ethereal outdoor garden or woodland location or a remote beach flanked by rocky cliffs, make sure your bohemian wedding location is all about nature.

From the secluded islands of Andaman to the lush green hills of Ooty, there's no dearth of destinations for that perfect outdoorsy venue.

2. Attire

A bohemian wedding is not complete without the right attire. Floral-infused lehengas, lace or fringe details or jewel-toned colours like deep plums and rich emeralds, explore your options when it comes to your outfits for all the ceremonies. Try experimenting with your hair, go for messy braids instead of those perfect buns, and skip the bling for wildflowers like baby's breath in your hair.

Get your groom to contrast or complement your colours or prints, and accessorise with bowties or colourful mixed flower boutonnieres. You can even coordinate with your bridesmaids, getting them to don dreamy dresses or soothing co-ords, or go the iconic way with flower crowns or corsages.

3. Decor

Decor is the piece that makes or breaks a themed-wedding. Strings of twinkling fairy lights draped over trees or around the altar are the key to making your bohemian wedding come together to look cosy, inviting and straight out of your magical Pinterest boards. Go for eclectic bouquets in mason jars instead of polished centrepieces, Persian rugs with lush prints, garden furniture or wooden signage. Hang flower chandeliers, handmade dreamcatchers, recyclable glass bottles filled with flowers or lights or terrariums with succulents to stick to the intentionally-raw and rustic theme of the wedding.

4. Wedding Stationery

Go the whole way and make your invites bohemian too. You can make watercolour invites in your wedding colours, or make them handwritten or calligraphed. Tie them up with hemp ropes, or use a wax seal instead of traditional envelopes. you can even add feathers or get the invites printed on handmade paper.

5. Food

The food is an important part of the theme too. Plan a low-key, fuss-free menu to keep things fresh and interesting. Go for a food truck, or live counters for poke, freshly-baked sour bread, cheese and charcuterie boards or lots of gourmet salad bars. Let the guests pour out their own drinks from tapped barrels or get a dispenser stand for your own self-pouring beer/wine bar.

Top it all off with a bohemian wedding staple- a naked cake. Be it chocolate, vanilla or even a red velvet, nothing says boho-chic like the naked cake sitting atop a rustic picnic table, garnished with assorted berries or flower petals, surrounded by frosted cupcakes or some freshly-picked greenery from the backyard.
