Have a winter wedding? Follow these 5 beauty tips to look your best

Glow incoming in 3, 2, 1!

In India, winter usually means peak wedding season, with everyone we know—from friends, to family members, to celebrities tying the knot. While the colder months are a great time to get married, it’s also the time when your skin is not at your best—with more chances of your face looking dull and dehydrated. So, as brides-to-be, it is essential to keep a few things in mind to make sure you look every bit as fresh-faced and stunning on your big day! Ahead, discover five tips for glowing skin and long-lasting make-up.

Ensure your skin is moisturised (lips and hands included!)

Winters can be harsh on your skin, drying it out. To make sure your skin looks soft, supple, and well-hydrated on your wedding day, it’s important to moisturise it. Opt for a hydrating routine before you put on your make-up—a milky toner, serum, face oil and a thick moisturiser will do wonders. Plus, don’t forget your lips, or your hands! Pick a non-sticky hydrating lip mask for your pout and go for a creamy lotion for your hands so they stay soft throughout the day.

Don’t skip the SPF

Some people recommend skipping the SPF on your wedding day as it leaves a white cast and can look patchy in pictures—but we’ll go ahead and say SPF is the single most important product you should be using, especially if it’s an outdoor ceremony. Even the winter sunlight can be harsh on your skin, so remember to protect it with a trusty sunscreen. Our tip to avoid a ghostly look is to choose a chemical sunscreen that will not only blend seamlessly into your skin, but also make it look dewy.

Choose cream-based make-up products over powders

The worst nightmare of any bride is to have cakey make-up on their big day, and this issue is intensified when it’s winter, with the cold making your skin extra dry. While a hydrated base is one way to avoid that, you can also ditch powder-based products in favour of creamy formulas so your skin gets that extra boost. Think cream blushes and hydrating foundations instead of matte primers. For your lips too, opt for hydrating lipsticks and fortify them with a swipe of gloss.

Make sure your makeup is waterproof

While this is a universal rule for wedding make-up, no matter the season, the cold winds during the winter months can irritate the eyes. To avoid watery eyes (whether from the wind or the emotions!), it’s best to use only the best waterproof make-up so your eyeliner and mascara stay in place throughout the ceremonies.

Don’t forget to hydrate your hair too

With so much attention being paid to the skin, the hair can take bit of a backseat when it comes to prepping it. Remember, the dry weather during winters can make your tresses extremely static, so it’s important to use leave-in conditioner and a non-greasy hair oil to hydrate it properly. It’s also a great idea to stick to simple hairstyles that don’t involve too much of brushing or teasing of the hair, as these will aggravate your hair further.
