Adopt these easy lifestyle changes in your pre-wedding routine for that gorgeous glow

It’s all about making the right choices.

Between all the  chaos and confusion that goes into planning a wedding, it’s hard being mindful about getting the right amount of sleep and ensuring you indulge in the correct pre-bridal routine for that effortless glow. We’re not saying you need to make major changes to your everyday routine but there are a few simple lifestyle tweaks that you can make to ensure you look your glowing best on the big day.  We suggest you start off well in advance so that you can see the changes in time for the wedding. Thanks to Dr. Alekya Singapore, Dermatologist & Cosmetologist, Founder, The Skin Sensé, Skin and Hair Clinics, here are some easy tips to try out:

Meditate as much as you can

A month before the wedding is when you probably have a million things to do. Meditation is one of the best ways to stay aware, be in the moment and above all—stay calm. Meditating will help you stay relaxed and positive, thereby helping you during the wedding planning process and ensuring that you’re feeling good when you turn up to your appointments. It will also help calm those pre-wedding jitters. Meditating for 10 minutes before you sleep or after you wake up, as your mind will be much more calm and composed and you will glow like a queen.

Stay hydrated

People tend to talk more about food when it comes to a change in diet, or sticking to the right one, but somehow, we forget the most important nutrient we’ll ever have—water. Drinking plenty of water will help keep your skin radiant and even help in your weight loss goals. It’s time to say goodbye to fatigue, feeling irritable, headaches and tired skin. Do the right thing and drink up! Start drinking at least 3 liters of water everyday as it helps to flush out all the toxins from your body and makes your skin healthy and radiant. Besides water, add fruit juices, vegetable juices or smoothies, coconut water on an everyday basis, and you will be able to get rid of all your skin issues. Using an alarm or an app that reminds you to constantly take sips of water would be great as well.

Get ample (and restful) sleep

It may seem like a tough task to switch off and get into bed when you’ve got so many things and minute details to oversee. If you want to glow on your D-day, you need to ensure that you are not indulging in those late night binges on Netflix with your bridesmaids. Wedding or no wedding, sleeping seven to nine hours a night has loads of benefits, such as a decrease in stress levels, strengthening your immune system, improving your cognition, regulating blood sugar, and enhancing your mood. Also, avoiding coffee and any form of alcohol before sleeping along with following the same night-time schedule everyday  will help you feel fresh.

Get moving

If it matters to you, you’ll make the time for it. This holds true for you and your dedication towards fitness. With your schedule being haywire due to wedding preparations, getting some kind of physical movement or workout is important for your mental and physical well-being. And this doesn’t mean that you do more than what you should be— that will only lead to over exertion. What you could do is find an activity that you thoroughly enjoy, but haven’t yet got the time to do so. This is a small change that will go a long way towards you feeling good about yourself.

Schedule time alone with your partner

When you and your partner are planning your nuptials there’s a good chance that the majority of your conversations will be everything wedding-related. While the two of you have a happy future ahead of you, it’s important to not forget the present and relish these moments together. One way to go about it is to set aside a day in the week where the two of you refrain from talking about anything related to the wedding. It’s cute, and at the same time important, as it will remind you why you’ll fell in love in the first place.
