You’ve had the wedding of your dreams. From the perfectly-curated décor and menus to those gram-worthy moments with your beau, and all the laughter and memories with your loved ones that you will cherish forever. Now that the festivities are done with and you’ve indulged to your heart’s content, it’s time to get back into a fitness routine. However, this is easier said than done. With an overwhelming new change in your life, it can be hard to adapt to so many different things at once. We’re here to help.

We got expert nutritionists to give us a complete lowdown on easy tips, tricks and dietary suggestions to help you get back on track post the frenzy and excitement of your wedding.

Keep an eye on your portion sizes and try incorporating a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruits and greens

According to Dt . Kanupreet Arora Narang, a clinical nutritionist and certified diabetes & ketogenic nutritionist from Ludhiana, it’s important to take care of your portion sizes. You might want to eat more or less in the days and weeks following the wedding, but try to ensure you don’t push yourself too much. It’s only going to help you in the long run.

Next, and I can’t reiterate this enough—stay hydrated. This plays an instrumental role in not only making your skin glow but flushing out toxins as well.

“Lastly, I’d recommend eating food with a variety of colours—especially fruits or vegetables that you munch on. It’s part of the balanced diet that you need.”

Hydrate yourself with electrolytes and include protein-rich foods

Mehvish Khan , a nutritionist and certified diabetes educator based out of Vadodara, suggests focusing on your protein intake as per your body’s requirement. The math is pretty simple. What is recommended is 0.8 grams protein per kilogram of body weight. So, if you’re someone who weighs 75 kgs, you should consume about 60 grams of protein every day.

Try including natural electrolytes in your diet—for example coconut water, which works extremely well if you want to stay hydrated. Zinc is another important vitamin to have in your diet as it helps build your immunity and gives you a fresh glow. It can be found in pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds and spinach, she says.

Make the right snack choices and add in prebiotics and probiotics to your diet

Ludhiana-based dietitian, Garima Goyal,, says that it’s absolutely natural to feel tired after the frenzy of all the wedding rituals and celebrations. This is all the more reason to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water, sherbets and coconut water to feel rejuvenated. Secondly, you might tend to go all out on your diet post the wedding celebrations—so instead, go easy, she offers. “There is a tendency to feel bloated and gassy after your wedding, which is why I’d recommend any bride to opt for smaller meals and make sure that they add prebiotics and probiotics to their diet.”

Lastly, while we talk about our meals, we tend to leave out what we snack on. It’s important to make the right choices even here. You might be surrounded with a lot of sweets, and it’s easy to give into temptation. What you can do is ideally replace them with seeds and granola bars, she suggests.
