Here’s the secret to waking up with an ultra glow in the morning
The no-makeup morning selfies of celebrities must have left you wondering how do they wake up like that? Well, they have the best of skin treatments, products and experts working on their skin. While you can’t afford the time, energy or the finances to take the route that they do, there’s thankfully a few tricks that will give you a mega-watt glowing skin and we aren’t talking about makeup.
Mini Sood Banerjee, Assistant Director and Head of Marketing at Innisfree India, says, “the key to healthy and radiant skin is consistency. It is important to follow a daily regime.” She suggests you gently massage your face with coconut oil or glycerin mixed with lemon before bedtime. Another effective way to glowing skin is putting on a homemade face mask and washing it off just before hitting the bed. “Our bodies have a tendency to heal better while we sleep. Similarly, our skin also heals and repairs itself when we are asleep, which is why, it is recommended that you use products or face packs that target problematic areas at night, as it will have enough time to penetrate deep into the skin,” says Mini.
She gives two easy recipes for homemade masks that will get you the #nofilter glow, the morning after.
1. Oats & Honey Mask
Oat flour exfoliates and soothes skin, while honey balances skin’s pH levels, has antibacterial, anti-aging properties and moisturises the skin.
1 tablespoon oat flour (ground oats)
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon rosewater (or water)
Blend all ingredients together in a small bowl.
Apply to clean skin in a thin layer. Let it dry for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Wash off with warm water, and moisturise skin as desired.
Usage: you can use this mask 2 times in a week.
2. Turmeric and Milk Mask
Lactic acid present in milk easily penetrates into the skin, hydrating it and giving it a radiant glow. Turmeric’s antiseptic and antibacterial properties help kill unhealthy bacteria and help lighten scars if any.
2 tbsp Milk
1tbsp Turmeric powder
Mix the milk and turmeric in a small bowl.
Apply this mix on your face and leave it on overnight.
Wash your face with cold water the next day.
Usage:Apply this mask on your face at least 2-3 times a week.
