'Heeramandi' inspired mehendi designs that are perfect for your wedding

Add these unique elements to elevate your bridal henna.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut show on Netflix, Heeramandi, transports viewers to the pre-independence world of courtesans swept up in their drama and fight for independence from the British. Amid all of that it's the outfits and looks of these characters that take centre stage. The outfits, inspired by 1920s Lahore, is simply gorgeous, not that we didn’t expect anything less. The attention to detail is something that really caught our eye. For instance, the mehendi designs that the characters sported.

These mehendi designs might be 1920-inspired, but they are perfect for the modern bride too. From flower motifs to intricate henna jewellery, we've picked up a few elements from Heeramandi that you can include in your bridal mehendi.

Bohemian designs

With its roots in bohemianism, this mehendi style is all about intricate details, from elements of nature to delicate drawings on your fingers. If you're someone who doesn’t want to apply a lot of mehendi, here's a look from Heeramandi that shows you how to go minimalistic with Bohemian designs.

Clean and clear motifs

Another mehendi design we can take note of from Bhansali’s web series is how to have big, clean, and clear motifs. This way, you can see the intricate details instead of filling the hand and having it all look messy.

Flower and leaf motifs

If you look closely at the mehendi designs on the show, you’ll see a lot of flower and leaf motifs, which was a popular style during that time period. These motifs have been used in mehendi designs since the beginning of time (or at least since mehendi has been used) and they have the ability to accentuate the design.

Jewellery designs

If you’re looking for something simple yet stylish, Heeramandi features a lot of jewellery-inspired designs. These minimal designs look stunning through the intricate dotted cluster work.
